About Me

I was born and raised in the small town of Sylacauga, Alabama where I learned about faith, dedication, and compassion. These traits not only influenced my childhood, but they have also led me to where I am today. I became interested in the field of nursing during my junior year of high school. After many volunteer hours, I decided that the nursing field was for me. Volunteering allowed me to understand how much I could help people by providing care for them. I am very compassionate about helping others, and this profession will allow me to spend the rest of my life doing what I love.

Because Auburn University not only has a very prestigious nursing school, but also has the small town feeling that makes me feel at home, Auburn became my home away from home.  Upon entering nursing school, I had my mind set on becoming a nurse anesthetist; however, after starting school, I quickly found my niche in labor and delivery. I would love to be able to help women through this journey and prepare them to become mothers. Throughout nursing school, I have had the opportunity to encounter endless experiences such as birth, grief, healing, pain, joy, and death, and these moments have only further confirmed that I have chosen the right career path.

My short term goals are to graduate from Auburn University's School of Nursing in the spring of 2018, pass the NCLEX, and obtain a job in labor and delivery in Birmingham, Alabama. My long term goals include gaining five years of experience. Then, I plan to consider furthering my education to become a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner. If the opportunity arises, I may also consider becoming a clinical instructor. My future plans are not concrete because I cannot wait to see where my life takes me!
